The all-in-one package to display a counter on your website! Its totally up to you how you use it. It has two modes of operation, the first being text based where the count is returned simply as a number and the second being where graphics are displayed showing the hitcount. We don't force you to hard-coded graphics or even one particular type of graphic, all you do is upload the 10 pictures (0->9.extension) of any file type and state what they are, the script does the rest - you don't have to worry.
As far as security is concerned and bogus hit counts, if somebody calls the script from a location which you have not setup to log then don't worry because your not going to get any increased hits - you choose what to log and each page has its own individual hit count for overall ease of use.

Keep track of the number of visitors to your site. Deploy any number of counters on any number of web pages. Choose from image, text or invisible counter styles, and even create your own counter images. Four image sets included.
The SplCounter (Simple Counter) was created to record more than just how many hits you have had for each page id. It records all referrers along with the time of each hit, and also creates a cookie, set to expire after 24 hours to help keep your counter as accurate as possible. It allows you to display text digits, digit images, a single image, or just hide the counter all together. It also gives you the option of redirecting to another url. SplCounter works using JavaScript, so no need to worry about having SSI (Server Side Includes) available on your server.

This webcounter can work as a (javascript based) text counter or as a simple graphical counter. When working as a graphical counter, digit appearance can be
configured. It is possible to manage multiple counters by placing counter.cgi scripts in several directories. Specially designed for multiuser sites: a site-wide counter.pl
file can be reused by multiple users by "require"ing it in their own counter.cgi files.
This script will count visitors, but only new visitors each day get added to the overall count. Return IP's on the same day do not get recounted. It requires SSI.

Can't decide whether you want a counter that uses inline images or a text based counter using server side includes. With our counter you get both! This counter also can count (if you want) unique hits only. This way, one person can add only one hit to the total count producing a more accurate counter.

This is a very versatile counter. It can be used with Server Side Includes (SSI) or by a simple HTML image tag. The SSI method allows for more display options, such as plain text output, which can then be manipulated by the HTML markup of the web page. On the other hand, the image tag method can be used to put counters in HTML documents residing on remote web sites. You can even embed a VersaCounter in virtual HTML documents produced by other CGI scripts. With SSI operation the script outputs ordinary text/html to the server, which then parses it into the web page. For the text counter style this output is plain text, with an optional preset hyperlink around the hit count. For the graphical counter styles the script replaces the hit count with an HTML image tag pointing to the GIF image of the counter, saved as another file on the server. It can also block against consecutive reloads and optionally log visitor's info.
