This search engine is designed for scanning large, text-intensive websites. Installation and maintence are a little more involved than for other internal search engines. However, Xavatoria pays off with speed and flexibility for your visitors. This script uses new Meta tags, such as keywords and description. The list of hits for a particular query is weighted by relevance, and only a set number of links are displayed per page. Xavatoria allows for complex but easy to use Boolean operators, grouping, case control, and basic wildcard searches. It includes both a setup guide for webmasters and a searching guide for visitors.

When a Web site starts to grow beyond a couple of pages, it can be time-consuming for visitors to find what they are looking for. As more Web pages are connected to one another via hypertext links, the resulting spaghetti-like relationship only exacerbates the complexity. Having SiteSearch installed on your Web site solves these problems. First, it provides a quick way for people to find the pages they are looking for. Additionally, because the script is searching the actual pages on the Web site, the results of the search are always up-to-date.
Simple Search allows you to integrate a keyword and boolean search program into your site so that users can search specified text and HTML documents. It then returns a list of filenames (displayed based on their title tag found in the HTML page) which matched the specified keyword(s).
WebSearch allows users to search for key words in documents located on your Web site. It searches the basic text of the documents, as well as ALT text and any information contained in META "keywords" and "description" tags. The script scores the match URLs based upon the frequency with which the requested key terms appear in the documents, and also lists the date on which each file was last modified. You can easily configure the number of matches which will be displayed on each results page.
Sometimes you need to run through all ASCII (plain text) or HTML files located on your server to find records that contain certain word or phrase. You want to find everything relevant to the subject regardless of what file it got lost in. This search engine will do just that: it will dutifully screen all the ASCII/HTML files in the directory you choose and below it and give you a list of links to files that contain the search phrase or keyword. Try running it on your server - you may find something lost so long ago you already forgot it ever was there.
