PortSensor is a flexible monitoring platform. Sensors can be created to monitor nearly any TCP/UDP service, including: HTTP, FTP, POP3, SMTP, DNS and most popular database platforms (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc).
