This is a very simple marketing module for all versions of PHPNuke (can be used on any web content management software but will need tweaking). It creates its own database, so it doesn’t mess with PHPNuke (or other) table of users.
Although very simple it can achieve some very powerful functions:
1- Gather information about where did your new user hear about your site. You ask him directly as a mandatory field so there are no misunderstandings. Use the info collected to find where to point munitions next time. Where do you should invest more in order to get more users like him?
2- Creating a Referral system. It collects referring member's nicknames, just for your information, to promote users, give prizes, or even to create a member-get-member system.
3- Stores all attempts to register that have failed. Although you might not know it is happening, many users try to register and get lost. Why? Because they don’t check the activation email soon enough, because the mail server can be down sometimes, because the mailbox might be full, because it can be caught by a spam system, because the aspirant user can misspell it or any other million reasons. Small sites can't afford missing all those potential users. That's why this marketing module registers them all forever, so that you can resend the activation mails a couple of days later, after you spell check it or after you make it spam proof.

ExpressionEngine a is web publishing system that empowers users to create a totally dynamic website using a set of flexible, modular, and powerful browser-based tools. With strong roots in blogging, ExpressionEngine has an interface and approach that will be immediately familiar to users, yet its tools – data modeling, web services, member management, dynamic templating, statistical tracking, data caching, and robust security features – rival content management systems costing tens of thousands of dollars. One of ExpressionEngine’s most creative features is its support for add-on modules and plug-ins to allow unlimited extensibility.
