Similar to the desktop software, web scripts are not spare from rampant piracy. A nullified script, also known as a nulled script is an illegal version of a script that has been pirated to remove security measures. Script developers and vendors usually include security checks like licensing, domain name validation or server callbacks to verify legitimacy of their products once sold. In the case of a nulled script, these security measures are removed and for most of the time replaced by other malicious codes.

For instance, the ‘pirate’ can add code to communicate sensitive information like membership data, your FTP information back to them. Other common examples are cross infection in JavaScript, usage of your server for sending spams, etc. It is very hard to identify if your site is infected and removing these malicious code is even harder.

Using a nulled script is foremost illegal and remember you will not be entitled for support, bug fixes and even upgrades. When downloading or purchasing script, always download from official or trusted sources.

If you’re a script developer, there is an online service called Nullwatch that provides real-time notification via email or phone whenever your script gets pirated and posted on the web.

In order to provide relevant results to our visitors, HotScripts employs a propriety algorithm for ranking listings in its directory. Each listing on HotScripts has an assigned point that determines its ranking in both category and search result pages. Points can be earned through any of the following methods.

Number of Visits – A visit is an outgoing click of your listing. The more visitors click on the ‘Visit Publisher Site’ button of your listing, the more points you earn. In order to receive more visits to your site, you can promote your Hot Scripts listing on other sites like social media sites.

Ratings & Reviews – A listing can be rated by both visitors and members. A member vote is accompanied by a textual review and will obviously have more weight than an anonymous rating. You can consider using our rating widgets to encourage your visitors to rate and review your listing.

Traffic Referrals – Each time you link back to any of our pages, we credit your account with some points. These points are then equally distributed among all your listings. To link back to our site, you can use one of our banners or text links available in your My Listings -> Badges section.

Keywords – The search feature on our site is the primary method our users find their way to your listings’ pages. It is thus important that you craft your description using keywords relevant to your listing. This will ensure that your listing can be crawled by our internal search engines

Download Link – If your listing is a downloadable free product, we strongly recommend you provide a download link. Download links can be added when submitting or editing a listing. Whenever someone clicks on the ‘Download’ button from our site, we credit your listing with some points.

Update your listing frequently – A listing that is not updated often will likely be listed at the bottom of its category. We advice that you update your listing once each 60 days. An update can be simply revising the description or version number to ensure that it is up-to-date.

Chances are… you’re fatigued with the effort of finding more business. We understand. Traditional job boards, networking, AdWords…they’re challenging. Saturated with competitors, time-consuming to monitor, and grant frankly, they often don’t deliver results. With HotScripts, we’re cutting out the fatigue and bringing you qualified prospects to your inbox.

Since its inception in 1998, HotScripts has retained its claim for being the largest script and web resource directory on the Internet. With a constantly growing list of more than 47,000+ resources, HotScripts attracts over 1,000,000 visitors every month. While in pursuit of web resources, many of these visitors are also seeking expert assistance with specific design and development needs. Today, we are connecting this need with the expertise of designers and developers like you.

1 Simple Step Away from More Business

You’re just one, simple step away from putting your sales process on auto-pilot. Create and fund your account today and start connecting with some of our 1,000,000 visitors seeking assistance and support every month.

For only $10 per qualified prospect, you receive (in real-time) detailed project and contact information from qualified individuals and companies seeking your specific services. Plus, to maintain a higher flow of prospects, we are limiting the number of active service providers. Get in early and lock-up the flow of prospects to your business; not your competitors!

But ultimately, the question to ask is, “Does it Work?”

“HotScripts delivers what it promises – pre-qualified leads for software development, design and script customizations. The team personally makes sure that the client has a bona fide interest in developing the project – in other words all leads are real. And while most projects are small, some of the clients have larger than expected budgets.”
Georgi Mirchev, CEO Mirchev Ideas Ltd – www.mirchevideas.com

“I bought a few leads and within 3 days my company had contacts worth more than $3,000. HotScripts has allowed me to focus on development of projects rather than hunting down work.”
Sandra Binns – Freelance Developer www.globalidentities.com

Test out the new HotScripts lead program. For $100 you’ll get 10 leads. If you close 1 in 10 for $500; you’ll generate a 500% return on your investment. It’s pretty simple.

Get started today, create and fund your account now.

This post describes how you can use Google Analytics to track the number of traffic you receive from your HotScripts listings as well as the conversation rate of this traffic to sales.

Prerequisite

Ensure that you have Google Analytics properly installed and configured for your web site. If you do not have an account, you can create a free account by signing up here.

Next, define your landing and conversion page. Your landing page will be the URL of the site you’ve defined in the ‘Site’ field for your listing. The conversion page will be the page that shows up right after someone completes an action. In many cases, it will be a ‘thank you page’ that someone gets after completing a successful transaction on your site.

Step 1 – Tracking Referral Traffic

The first thing is to tag or code the click-through URL that points to your landing page. Your current landing page might look something like this:

http://www.scriptstore.com/php/cms.php

Google Analytics allows you to analyze and track custom campaigns using a few variables and values:

utm_source: Identify the referral source (e.g HotScripts)

utm_medium: Advertising medium (e.g sponsored, premium, banner, newsletter)

utm_campaign: Campaign Name (e.g name of your script or listing)

After defining your values, your tagged URL will look something like this:

http://www.scriptstore.com/php/cms.php/?utm_source=hotscripts&utm_medium=sponsored&utm_campaign=mycms

If you do not want to manually tag your URLs, you can use Google’s URL Builder to do that. Once you’re done, save the URL and copy and paste it in your listing’s ‘Site URL’ field by editing your listing in your ‘My Listings’ section.

Step 2 – Setting up your Goals

Setting your Goal

It is more relevant to track your referrals against a set of goals. A goal as described above is a desired action like a successful transaction, a trial script download or an email signup. In this example we’ll assume that the goal to be monitored is the number of orders you generate and we’ll be tracking the ‘thank you page’ that the visitors receives after completing an order. Here are the steps to setup a goal in Google Analytics.

Login your Google Analytics account and click on the on the Account Name to which your site profile belongs to.

Next to your site, under the ‘Actions’ column, click on the ‘Edit’ link.

In the Goals section click on ‘Add goal’

Enter a name for your goal, e.g ‘Script Ordered’. Set the Goal Type as ‘URL Destination’.

Select ‘Head Match’ for the ‘Match Type’ and enter the URL of your site. If your thank you page is at http://www.scriptstore.com/php/thanks.php, simply enter /thanks.php

You can define a Goal Value for this goal. For example if each time you sell a script you make a profit of $99 dollars, you can enter 99 as the ‘Goal Value’.

As an optional step, you can setup Goal Funnels if you’d like to track the different pages the user has to follow until the thank you page. (e.g billing page, checkout page).

Once you’re done, click on the ‘Save Goal’ button.

Viewing your campaign referral traffic

Each time someone clicks on the ‘Visit Publisher Site’ button for your listing and goes to your landing page, Google Analytics will record this referral and record the results in your Traffic Sources -> Campaigns section in your Google Analytics account. This will look something similar to the screenshot below:

Viewing your referral traffic and goal conversion

You can click on a particular Campaign Name to drill down into details like your bounce rate for your landing page, time spent on site by the visitor, etc.

If you have goal tracking enabled, you will be able to cross-reference each campaign against the number of goals converted. This metrics will give you an idea as to how many referrals from your listing is converting into sales.

Please note that Google Analytics might take up to a few hours to record and display your referral traffic and goal conversion statistics.

Getting visitors to your listing page is only the first step in the conversion process. “So, how do I convert my visitors into sales leads”, you ask? After your visitor clicks on the ‘Visit Publisher Site” button on your listing page, it is not rocket-science to convert that visitor to a potential buyer if your product page has some essential elements. Here is a list of items that you can implement to truly harvest leads and convert them into sales:

Offer a test drive

The first thing that most of us will look for is a demo of the script. It is important that visitors can test drive the script (including the backend) before making any buying decisions. If for any reasons you cannot offer a demo on your site, then complement your product page with annotated screenshots or with video tours.

What’s under the hood?

State any special requirements that your potential buyers need; for example, web hosting, programming and browser requirements. Include information like what version of programming language your script has been designed for, does it require any 3rd-party plug-ins or add-ons, etc.

Support and Documentation

It is easy to claim that your product comes with complete documentation and you have 24/7 helpdesk ready to answer any questions; however highlighting this information on your site will re-assure your visitors. Upload your documentation (FAQs, manual, tips) onto your site and make them easy to find, add your physical address, phone numbers and links to your helpdesk or online chat.

See it in action!

Depending on the nature of your script, here are some other items you can consider adding to your sales page: examples of live sites using your script, case studies, testimonials, version/feature comparison, list of templates and plug-ins you offer.

Watch your step(s)!

A common mistake that a lot of listing partners do is NOT linking directly to their product page. If you have several products on your site, you should link to the product page in question rather than linking to the homepage. It is an unquestionable truth that the fewer steps a visitor has to go through to make a purchase, the easier you can convert him to a buyer.

Finally, below is a list of URLs that I believe are excellent examples of scripts pages that have all the essential elements:
