"Promoting your technical skills" is not bragging. It is showing other people what you've done and, in this case, allowing them to comment and contribute.
With respect to 'controversial' - there are all sorts of images in the world and they mean different things to different people. In this case, your choice of images may seriously impact your goal of sharing your work. That was the point of the post.
I went to your page, and closed the browser. I didn't get to see the stylesheet and template builder - which is what I wanted to see, because I didn't want to look at the images you chose.
