You're passing up a great system here. Logical HTML (<if condition="...">...<else>...</if>, like that found in vbulletin), "Cron" jobs (routine jobs to keep the forum updated) and a very advanced chaching system just to name a few.
The least you could do is have a glance at it and then make a decision.
