How come your title is "Community Leader" insted of "Aspiring Coder?" You must be something special, huh?

My web hosting company turned on points/titles like this on their forum and there was a flood of bs and "yeah I like that, good job..." posts by the children just trying to reach the next point level. Watch out for an increase in non-specific and non-helpful posts.

Well, I don't think I've seen a huge increase, but spamers are still spamin' like always. However, thanks for the heads up!

These coding titles dont really give a true perspective of peoples coding talents.

A "Newbie" coder could in reality be the best coder on the site.

The only things the ranks rank are peoples post count.

Well, we all have to start somewhere. Just because you might be the best coder doesn't mean that you deserve to be a "Code Master". We all have to earn our user title by posting. If we gave a user with 3 post the title "Code Master" then that wouldn't be fair to the other users.

Yeah i surpose, but thats the whole point how many posts you have in a forum is no reflection on how good at coding you are etc.

But what the heck this is coding forum it doesnt really matter.

I agree. Those that don't have a grasp of programming and troubleshooting techniques and who ask for every little piece of information instead of trying to research and figure things out for themselves, tend to build up a large number of posts, which does not reflect their level of ability.

Yes, I understand(and sorta agree) with what your saying, but the titles(just like on any forum) are there to encourage users to post.

more posting = greater user title

They infact have nothing to do with your coding abilitys. The only thing that would show that would be reputation.
