Question "active" link?

Hey,
I know about the ":active" element, but I don't think I'm understanding something. How can I code my css so that after a link is clicked, the page which that link loads will have that link highlighted or have whatever image I want? I hope I'm making sense.

I think you mean ":visited" ??
