set colors on words in textarea

set colors on words in textarea

How can I set different colors on different words in a text area? Like in RTE's used in forums, gmail etc.

What do you need a textarea for?
It should be much easier with an iframe...

That's not relevant... iframe is never necassarry when making websites..if I wanted something like this, I could just've used tables. But as I want the user to be able to edit something, I need a textarea.

as you can see in the source code, it's built in javascript. what do we all know of javascript? if you look at the source code of a html file, containing javascript, we can see the javascript code.
so if you get what i mean

I just thought it would be easier and less messy to get the certain codes instead of searching through someone elses codes...

And yeah, I kinda figured that this was js-related after all...

And as far as I know...this will only work for selected text...
