My website www.ccsswimteam.com recently went under a new design. Since completing it, I have found that some IE users can not access it. All they get is a solid color background. Upon further investigating you can see that all the source is there but nothing is being shown. I have not experienced this problem on any computer I tested the website on, but it is fairly common. I don't know anybody having any problem with it using Firefox or Safari. Only SOME IE users are getting this problem. What could possibly be preventing some people to access it but not others? Security restriction? Thanks.

Not sure about what could be causing it, but I've just checked it in Firefox, Safari, Opera (all latest versions) and IE7 and its working perfectly fine.

Perhaps run the website through the W3C html and css checkers - might show up some possible issues...

I have now found out that this problem only occurs on IE6. Now a simple solution would be for people to just update to IE7. However this site with be used in selling advertising and we can't segregate a large population who don't know that they don't need to update. Any other ideas on how to fix it? Is there something I could do to make the css of IE6 perform like IE7?

You are right - the simple solution would be for people to upgrade to v7. But they won't do that as it's something new...

One of the major problems with IE is that its an absolute pig with regards to standards and CSS. v7 is a step in the right direction to interoperability however its still rubbish. To the best of my knowledge, there's not a hell of a lot you can do. There is some javascript I think that you can use to distinguish between different browsers and apply settings accordingly, however that's out of my pool of knowledge.

All I can suggest is you play around with the page formats with IE6 and see if you can get a compromise. Hopefully someone else might read this and offer their opinion however...

Sometimes a missing </script>, quote, or other closing tags in the right spot can cause your whole site to not show at all. Even in IE7.

Hi i'm a noobie,
I developed a site for a friend using code snippets I found online in tutorials, photoshop and dreamweaver the site displays perfectly in Firefox and ie 7 but for some people it doesn't show in internet explorer 6 or doesn't display correctly.

I'm so frustrated right now and wonder if i should just redesign the layout using tables.

<p>New Providence Classical School is a full day school for children from K5 to 4th grade with plans to expand to 12th grade. It employs the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trivium_(education)">Trivium</a>, a &quot;classical method&quot; used to shape and cultivate young minds. We teach the classical curricula used by the 210-strong Association of Classical and Christian Schools.<br />

Over the centuries, the classical method produced some of the world's greatest minds and helped shape the best parts of western civilisation. However, today, common education largely ignores this long-successful, proven approach. New Providence Classical School aims to correct that—our methods equip children with the fundamental skills and tools that help them to achieve greatness in any of life's endeavours.<br />
