I am sure you must have seen that Javascript alert window on some or other site that floats in the middle of your screen.

Can you please tell me how do I make such a notification box with CSS, that would float at the middle of my screen.

i think you are trying to say like that of facebook... Its not javascript alert box, they use css to make it look like javascript alert box. but i wonder what are their codes now a days JavaScript are used less in form validation and some menu related items or in getting information from another widows like facebook does in find freind you email section i hope information was useful
