CSS not working in IE8 ok in Safari & Firefox

Hi All

I have just used a template to build my first website for my girlfriends work but i seem to be having issues with IE8.

IE8 wont display the site right at all i think this is a CSS problem but im unsure i have tried to put a meta tag to force IE7 compatability but no success.

The site has been tested on firefox and safari on both windows and OSX with no problems.

the URL is Halifax Healing :: Reiki Therapy in West yorkshire area

If anyone has the chance to have a look that would be a great help as im very limited on what i know and how to resolve these issues
