I have heard that ASP works better with access than PHP does.

MSAccess has a complete help system built-in. It is fairly easy to use and it does contain examples. I used it extensively when I was learning Access. And it didn't take much time to learn the syntax. Once you get that down it becomes very easy. Sort of like programming in BASIC or PHP.

moved to databases.

php typically uses mysql but if you need to use ms access i would look into odbc connections and oledb
asp/asp.net typically use mssql

i typically do not recommend using ms access because it not the most reliable and gets corrupted easily. your host should have mysql support especially if its a linux based hosting
