Unhappy Help very much appreciated

Hi all, new here

I'll jump into the thick of it

I'm doing HNC Computing college. It's an Ok course but the only bit I really struggle at is...you guessed it Java. I mean really struggle. We use BlueJ which im not sure is good or bad. it likes to freeze sometimes but that could be the college computers

anyway i was wondering if any body could help either with links to basic step by step(real beginners stuff) about java. the class is an introduction to java so im not doing anything remeteoly advanced, just basic things like Array's, methods, variables

Soon we will probably be working in groups doing projects. i dont want to affect my own chances or my class mates chancing of passing this course by not understanding anything. iv tried so hard. iv got books, downlaoded demo's but I still load up to start a new code and i end up with a blank screen. occasionally I'll get a bit right but the teacher usually does most of it. When she explains it there and then I generally understand it but when im doing it on my own or in class myself I just flop

any help/advice/tips very much appreciated

Thanks in advance to anyone that can save me!

I wouldn't worry too much, If it's the first time you've done programming it will seem pretty weird untill you get used to it; every one else is probably in the same boat. I'm sure you'll find help to any specific problems on here without much trouble.

I've just tried to attach my first year java handouts on here, but they're a bit too big. If you can give me an email address I can send you them. I don't know if they'll be any better than what you're getting at college but I suppose they're worth a look, they start of fairly basic and they're quite easy to follow.

Don't worry about group working either, it's a great way to learn stuff and people won't mind helping you out if they see you're puting in a bit of effort.

Let us know how you get on.

The Java Tutorial at Sun might be a good resource...
