Exclamation Detecting Java Plug-in

Hi! Our application uses a couple of Java applets which on IE require the use of the Sun Java JRE plug-in. We're looking for a graceful way to detect whether or not it has been installed and to guide the user through it's installation if it is not. We're considering BrowserHawk, but since all we need to know about is this one plug-in - it's overkill for our situation. Anybody out there know of another way of detecting this plugin?

Thanks!

Radi
