Question copy and paste

can i just simlpy copy and paste a movie clip from a.fla file to b.fla? will it work? i had copy a movie clip to b.fla, but the movieclip does no work as what in a.fla in b.fla when i paste it, how? i can't simply copy and paste a movie clip??? i fresh in this area, hope someone can help me, thanks!

can you show your code please.
as far as i'm concerned, it should work as long as it doesn't require additional params, set in the other frames, etc
