Links in Flash

I have a dynamic html text field in a movieclip container. The movieclip is revealed by a mask. The trouble is the mouse clicks are not being recognized on the text field so nothing happens when the links are clicked.

Basically my question is, how can I get a button that is INSIDE a movie clip to work properly?

I have tried swapDepths, setFocus, to no avail. Thanks for the help!
