Thumbs down Script theft and problem with hotscripts

I have a big problem with hotscripts

I reported severall times that the are hosting stolen programs
but no response

I am the project manager of webinsta
http://www.webinsta.com and we launched a nice free GPL script called WEBinsta FM Manager

Since it is already hard to keep something like this alive someone stole the source and made an exact copy and try to sell it as his own.
Since we cannot afford an laywer there is not much we can do.

Now this guy also promote his software on Hotscripts.com and even after 10 emails to hotscripts no one response.

Look at his site

http://www.scriptlion.com/portal/ind...id=18&Itemid=1
Lion Files management

You can view his submission on Hotscripts here
http://www.hotscripts.com/search/2753922.html

For me Hotscripts is not on a good way for this behaiviour.

It is so frustrating to work with GPL that for me this is the last time.

For now on there will be only encrypted commercial software from webinsta and because of these behaiviours I will stop to answer any questions on the forums

I havn't looked into it fully chet but his site demo looks very much like your screenshot.
I presume yours is the original as the way he has laid out his "home" "upload" etc. links dose not tie in with how well the rest of the page is laidout

I think you guys are doing a great job and give that script for free, i dont think you should get discuraged by one guy that has stolen your script. My advice is to do a simple encryption on the script and put some callbacks in . Also make sure the powered by link cant get changed and i think that should do it. I dont think you should go to commercial just for that. You dont have to buy a lawyer you can allways try to intimidate the guy first and see what happenes
Regards and Good Luck.

I'm not trying to sound like a party pooper, and I am not saying that guy didn't steal your script. However, if you did release the script with a GPL that is a General Public License which allows for modifications, redistribution, modification redistribution, and in most cases not all it allows anyone to sell the script and/or software for profit as so long as the individual distributing/selling reveals the source-code to any entity whom requests it as that is the major stipulation.

But then again there are Lesser GPL's which do not allow source modifications and certainly do not allow the thing to be sold. My suggestion is to double check the license your company has issued with the program. And hey don't worry there are alternative methods to busting an individual when you are down low on the cash for an attorney. Hope this helps a little.
