Need advice on a script i bought.

Hi all

I wont mention the guys website yet though need some advie.

I bought a script from an add on hotscripts, This script was $139.95 now at first it said that the script was unencoded, when i bought this, it turns out that a file is actually encoded, ( licence check ). Now when i was running the script it started off fine, then it started comming up with an invalid licence, i countacted the owner of the script and it was down do his server going down,

So basically everytime his server went down everyones script went with it, this wasnt good, so i asked this guy if i could have the unenceded files so i dont have to do the licence check, because it was going down pritty **** often,

I was told that i could buy this file at a price of $100 which i went through with this ( have all paypal statements )

I then actually sold my webite to a guy and about a month later used the script again to create a new game. The owner of the script then emailed me saying i was ripping him off as i had two websites running this script, and that he sold me these unencoded file "just for testing purposes"

So basically would you pay for something you was later told you could only use for testing purposes? i mean i payed for this? so as long as i dont sell the script and make out its mine or to create money im not doing anything bad am i?

Would like some of your opinions on this.

thanks
steve

So the script is actually being used on two sites? What does the software's license state about usage like this?

Hi

Hi Christian

It does state that it can only be used on 1 domain name and that i would have to add a domain name licence though a domain name licence is $15 yet the guys wants me to pay for the whole script

Any thoughts

steve

Just as I figured. You are violating your license agreement not a good thing at all. From the looks of it, the guy wouldn't be willing to let you pay the $15 and use it legally on both sites. Personally, I would cut my losses and find a new script. This guy seems pretty dishonest saying "just for testing purposes."

I've found a couple at sourceforge.net. Most are ok, but all are open source. There's some rpg engines and whatnot and if your willing to spend some time, you can build a pretty decent game.
