15.000+ scripts and no advanced search or sorting?!?!

I have been using hotscripts for a few years now, I really love it, it is the best out there, but still it could definately be better. because with the fast growing number of scripts it is getting increasingly difficult to find the script you need.

an example:

today I am looking for a small and simple news script written in php with mysql. so I go into the php section and into news publishing... to my horror it contains no less than 248 scripts, 25 pages I have to look through. it takes me roughly 1 hour to skim the collection to narrow it own to the 10 scripts that suit my needs. 1 hour!

now, dont get me wrong, I love the fact that there is such a big collection, I just wish there was a way to sort the scripts!

in fact it is already somewhat there in your "top rated" section... but that doesnt really help anyone but the developers.

couldnt you make a "sort by" function? like "sort by : member rating : visitor ratings : no. of votes : updated : filesize : popularity : price". I know that you cant always trust these criterias, but they do give a good indication.

you might also consider an advanced search.

I mean with 15.000+ scripts, you must admit that the browsing experience is a huge pain.

Greetings,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. As Ryan Elledge pointed out in this thread, we are revamping the HotScripts.com back-end, and one of the major enhancements planned includes Multiple Sorting Options.

sorry I hadnt seen that. that sounds terrific! when that is implemented you wont have no competition, cause you already rule when it comes to quantity. and I'm sure it will help a very large community of users and developers and bring to the front the true quality scripts. I cant wait to see it!

This is gonna be one of the biggest changes to the new Hotscripts. I think everyone will thoroughly enjoy all the new searching features which will be available.

ETA on Script Sorting/Filtering?

Yes...great suggestion indeed. Any idea of an ETA on the script sorting/filtering functionality? Not to put a rush on this, but as I'm sure you know, your "knock off" (competition?), such as www.scripts.com already has this feature in place. Any chance you have a beta in place that we can help test?
