I think it means that you posted in the topic. At least thats the only thing i can thing off (each post i posted in has that icon, so it would make since).

MadDog is correct. A little red dot will appear in the post icons in each thread that you've participated in to help you out in seeing what threads you've posted in and which ones you haven't.
