java and javascript

Hi,

Just a little puzzled as to why you hava javascript as a subcategory of java. Though the names are alike the similarity end there.

I have been using hotscripts right from your launch but didn't join the forums still now

Hello,

The page you refer to says
"only very vaguely related to java". There are much closer relationships between java and C++ or even java and PHP. But we wouldn't think of making either of these subcategories of java.

By the same token it could be argued that ASP should be considered a subcategory of Javascript since you can create an ASP page in javascript.

hello

personally i dont see much wrong with having it in there with java but i do see that javascript really has only a small connection with java but by having it placed under java it sorta makes an easy place for you to find it but i do know what your saying e4c5 which sorta makes me sit on the fence for this one. :/

Hello Henry,

appreciate your comments.
I personally feel the best place for javascript would be as a sub category in client side programming.

Having it as a subcat of java would surely be very confusing to a lot people. Beside i have noticed that some of the posts in the javascript group are related to server side programming with ASP!

e4c5 is right. JavaScript has no real asocciation with Java at all. I major in Java Programming (mainly the Servlet and Java3D APIs) and catagorizing JavaScript with Java is totally incorrect! JavaScript should be found under Client Side Programming.
