I am trying to create a link to an exe file on our webserver. When I try execute the file from the link I get an error:

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

Where did you get the CGI script from?

Wherever you got it, you need to tell them this, as there is something wrong with the script.

There is no cgi script - the code is <a href="setup.exe"> Download exe</a>

The error occurs after clicking on the link. Is it possible that the server is not allowing exe's to be executed?

it should not allow executing exe files in its own server!!

anyway, tell your host about this problem! it shouldn't happen anyway.

The server DOES execute the .exe file; is it a normal software or is it a CGI application? If it's a software try placing it into a .zip file (www.winzip.com); otherwise contact the author of the CGI because his application is faulty.
