Where is the html code

Hi,
I am another to newbee to coding.
I am currently making a website in joomla 1.5 and wanted to include
a "pay now" button in one of the articles.
I got the html code but I don't know where to put it.
I was told to put it in the body of the html of my web page when I do so, it shows up at the top of the page and not in the article as intended.
I don't seem to be able to find the html code anywhere.
When I view the source code with my browser I can see the html. but when i open all the php files i can't see it anywhere!
This probably is a stupid question, but I don't know what else to do.

Thanks a million!!

I've used Joomla a bit here and there, post your example and I'm sure it will get figured out.

hi therocket954

Thanks for your reply!
This is the code that i got for the "buy now" button.
The problem is, now I don't know where to put it.
I'm still pretty new to this and am trying to get my head around the coding business.
gotta start somewhere

thanks again!

How to add HTML to Joomla content items.

1. Open up your article in Joomla Administrator
2. Click the little HTML button in your text editor's toolbar
3. Paste your button or link HTML code where you want it in the article. If you aren't sure, just put it at the bottom of all the other HTML and text.
4. Save your article.

If your HTML gets messed up you may have to edit your article in non WYSIWYG mode.

Go to Site > User manager and change your user's text editor to non WYSIWYG. Go edit your article. Then change your editor back.

When editing custom Javascripts and some types of HTML you may have to be in non WYSIWYG mode because otherwise it will mess up your code when it tries to "help you"

You should never have to edit your Joomla PHP files for something like this unless you are customizing something that no Joomla addon or feature was able to do for you. If you edit your site design you can do that in the Administrator section too.

Thanks!!

drale,

I would have taken a long time to figure out how to solve that problem on my own.
Thank you so much!
Just out of curiosity, if I would like to edit the html of the article outside of joomla, lets say in dreamweaver where would I find the code?

Thanks again

The HTML of your article can be found when you click the HTML button. The content and HTML of your article is stored in a MySQL database.

The HTML of your complete page when viewing an article is not in one location. What you see is all generated by Joomla system before being shown to you. There is no actual file in FTP that you may find for your article.

You can copy and paste your article HTML during edit into Dreamweaver but that might be a bit overkill for editing an article. You might have something you like to do with Dreamweaver though, I'm not sure of that. It sounds like you are trying to make a nice looking advertisement for your article instead of a typical text story. Dreamweaver might throw in some CSS and HTML that would make your site messed up when viewing your article but you can try it if you want.

Thanks!
I kept trying to find the code in joomla's php files!
I don't usually use dreamweaver to edit my articles. I would sometimes copy
the source code from the page in my browser and past it into dremweaver to
see the html.
I have been able to make good progress with my site, it's just things like this, that
throw you of balance when the solution is not easy to find.
But thanks to people that know what they are doing, things get easier by the day!
