Manually updating RSS feed

I've just started building a website (kind of a video blog), and through tutorials and experimentation, I've been able to create an RSS feed. I built the xml by modifying an existing one in TextEdit. I subscribed to it myself to make sure it worked. I also validated it online. Everything seems fine.

Now I've updated my blog, and manually updated my RSS as before with TextEdit. It validates fine, but when I check the RSS bookmark in my browser, it doesn't reflect the change.

Does it take time to update, or is there something else that needs to happen for the RSS to show the new items?

I'm using Live Bookmarks with Firefox to subscribe to the RSS.
