automatically save target as once clicked on

Hi there, I am new to the whole html thing and am trying to automatically give the option of saving a text file once the link for that file is clicked upon. The only way I have found to do it so far is to right-click on the link and save target as. I simply want to make it a lot easier for the user to have the option of saving the file or just opening it.

Any help on this matter would be much greatly appreciated.

I use Download Center Lite to do this... check out the website, there's a demo in this link http://www.stadtaus.com/en/php_scrip...d_center_lite/

Anyone know if this is possible in JavaScript?

We've got two different servers. One that supports only ASP and one that supports only PHP. Therefore, we'd like to find a JavaScript version of this kind of script. Anyone know where we can find one?

Many thanks!!
