Please can you help me (HTML5-related)

Hello, my name is Samantha and I homeschool my 6 year-old son using an online school. Flash is required to view the online materials, indeed you can't even log on with having Flash. So, my PC died and yesterday I bought an iPad. I have used Macs before and wasn't aware that Flash is banned from iPad. So the iPad is effectively useless as things are. I have spent a great deal of time on the internet trying to find a way around it, but apart from attempting a Jailbreak (too scared) it seems there is nothing I can do.

The only other option for me is to convince the online school to make the materials available in HTML5 which brings me here. My question is... how easy/difficult would it be for them to do that? If I knew what was involved, it might help my case.

I would really appreciate your replies, although please bear in mind that I am not technically-minded so might struggle a bit with the language.

Thanks,

Samantha

Hi Samantha,

iPads and iPhones do not support flash at all, even if you do a jailbreak it will still not allow you to view flash content.

To be honest it depends on what the online school actually offer within the flash, as you said there login is based around flash I presume it will involve a whole re-design and re-code to replicate it within HTML5.

Something you should note, HTML5 does not allow as much interactivity with the user, it will probably have a look and feel as an online website, meaning text will be static as well as images. Videos can be incorporated but again this is with minimal styling.

Anyways, to answer your question, if the whole program is based around flash it will probably require a lot of work to get it to have a similar look and feel to the flash. Ask the school if they have considered it, you never know, they might have one available as iPads are currently the new trend and most companies are trying to roll back to support Apple devices.

Hope this helps.
