700-800 items in a javascript menu

700-800 items in a javascript menu

So I need a js navigation menu system that can handle several hundred items and load *quickly*. I've looked at 5 or 6 systems so far, but all of them take too long to load (10+ seconds). Or they work well in IE, but not in NS6+.
