Adding Alt tags to JavaScript Slideshow

I was hoping that somebody could help me with this small ... or perhaps not so small ... dilemma.

I use a fade in/fade out JavaScript slideshow on the homepage for one of my clients, and she just signed on a new SEO guy who is freaking out because the images do not have alt tags. While the pictures do have descriptions, he swears up and down that Google will not read it as the image description, so I am trying to figure out how to add alt tags to the JavaScript. He wants to use a HTML image slider ... but everyone that I have ever found is not automatic and makes me throw up in my mouth a little. I could just be looking in the wrong place (not quite there to just make one up from scratch from JavaScript), or ... what.

Either way, the script on the index page is as follows:

Code:
<script type="text/javascript">

var mygallery=new fadeSlideShow({
	wrapperid: "fadeshow1", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow
	dimensions: [640, 482], //width/height of gallery in pixels. Should reflect dimensions of largest image
	imagearray: [
		["images/Home-SantaFeFarmersMarketChiliBunches.jpg", "", "", "Dried chili bunches at Santa Fe Farmers' Market"],
		["images/Home-SantaFePumpkinsAndGourds.jpg", "", "", "Autumn pumpkins and gourds"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeHomemadeBreads.jpg", "", "", "Santa Fe Farmers' Market homemade breads"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeFallInThePark.jpg", "", "", "Fall in the park in Santa Fe"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeDriedAutumnFlowers.jpg", "", "", "Dried Flowers at Santa Fe Farmers' Market"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeFallBirchOverhang.jpg", "", "", "Beautiful Birch Overhang"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeChiliPeppers.jpg", "", "", "Clouds Over Santa Fe"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeFallBirch.jpg", "", "", "Welcome to Santa Fe - Santa Fe"],
		["images/Home-SantaFePumpkins.jpg", "", "", "Santa Fe Farmers' Market Flowers"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeAutumn.jpg", "", "", "Santa Fe in the Fall"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeFallMapleTree.jpg", "", "", "Beautiful Santa Fe Fall weather"],
		["images/Home-SantaFeAutumnDoorWreath.jpg", "", "", "Santa Fe in the Fall"]//<--no trailing comma after very last image element!
	],
	displaymode: {type:'auto', pause:3500, cycles:0, wraparound:false},
	persist: false, //remember last viewed slide and recall within same session?
	fadeduration: 1000, //transition duration (milliseconds)
	descreveal: "ondemand",
	togglerid: ""
})

</script>
I've searched online for examples of alt tags being included into javascript slideshows, but they were always particular to that specific image slideshow, and none of them faded.

I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!
