I am very new to java script. I have been doing some tables with php/mysql. However it will be hard to set up a dedicated server at my company for display of data in tables. Will java work better since it is client side. What I am looking to do is a have a table like this

Report Description Author Date Report_name Type



Do applets exist that do this. It would be nice to have others enter the information but then be available for everyone else once they do.

not sure if you've understood this but javascript isn't the same as java applets (common mistake). I think you could generate tables using javascript but the server would still have to send the actual data to the client. For example you could have the server write a bunch of javascript arrays in the script containing the data and then use javascript loops to render the tables, but I'm not sure if this would increase performance. Depends on the type and amnount of data...
