I represent a small company based here in bangkok (british, american and australian). We are setting up a website but are having trouble with our programmer and may need to replace him soon and start from close to scratch with back-end stuff.
We have:
* static html pages
* a design for the dynamic pages
* a MySQL database containing our inventory
We need:
* a fully integrated shopping cart
* dynamic pages that pull items from the DB and show them onscreen (I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about - it's an Amazon-like deal, you choose your category of product, see a list, choose an item, add that item to cart and so on).
* a way to accept visa / cards online
* A way to track a customer through the website so we can see the kind of things they look at
* a complete backend that allows us to manipulate the db.
* someone to sort the above and also sort secure hosting (and domain transfer - we own the domain we need).
* someone who will advise us and work with us, rather than literally just contracting and getting the job done.
Now, I have experience in web and new media, so we are covered that way and I have worked extensively with "back end" programmers, usually in ASP and MySQL so I do not think there will be any problems in communication or such like. We are not expecting you to be in Bangkok, or even Thailand, so long as the work is done quickly.
What we do not know is how long this should take, how much we should offer and what expectations above or below what we need we should have.
We are happy to work your way, using whatever technology you want, but we would like to maintain the MySQL format for a DB.
If we decide that our current programmer is not going to work out, it'll be very early august and we do have a requirement to get this all up and running asap after that date...
