Not willing to pay? READ!
When you request a script from this website and are not willing to pay, in almost every situation you will get ignored and sometimes flamed. I'm posting this because little kids come into this forum, requesting scripts that take hours to code and are NOT willing to pay or compensate, and this to me, as a php developer is unacceptable. Mods can tell us to "ignore" these kids but that doesn't help us any bit -- the ones DOING the WORK... I think the way this forum is ran needs to be turned around. If you don't want to pay for a script, then simply don't post it here. I know some people here do, do free scripts but almost 99% of developers here want cash.
Not trying to stir up trouble or start a flame war, just venting on the ignorance of some consumers. I know I take my work personal, and put extra time into a script if it's needed - no matter who or what it's for. When you do paid business with a developer, instinctively you feel you're getting what you want (atleast my clients do).
I know some people are under budget and can't afford something they want but I was told to earn what I want.
Delete/lock/sticky this thread all you want. Just wanted to spend my 2 cents.

i dont' agree
Through this forum someone helped me and wrote a script for me for free that is of a great use to me and in return of his favor i offered him something other than money (although he wasn't expecting anything in return).. it worked out pretty well for the both of us, i thought it was a nice experience.
also when i went over the script, i learned sevral things, so it also helped me with my php knowledge and i know if there was somethin i could do to help out someone else i'd be happy to do it..
just my thoughts..

Money is the root of all evil didn't you know that?
I will accept money for my work, in recent years I've done a lot of open source/free software. Why? Because I've used to many free programs, why not give something back?
You see demanding money for all your work might be fine with you, but some of us here like to help people.
As a small child (only 1 year old) I burnt my hands severly, and I am unable to draw or write consistently for long periods of time. So therefore I cannot do graphic work, for the many sites I own. Do I demand people make me graphics for free? Well I have a few friends who help out with them, and are nice to me and understand my situtation, in return I give them what I can...php code is quite popular. Infact a member of this forum Infinite_Hackers, helped me with some graphical work I needed (Highly recomended, the guy is good.) and in return I gave him a few Gmail invitations. I have a few sites hosted with a webhost who doesn't bill me, but I do code for him on occasion.
So money is not everything, if someone offers you their thanks and gratitude is that not enough?

Not always, and never for some people. Though, I don't agree to posting a topic to state "Don't post here to request a free script", but then again, there are many rude "PHP Developers" here that feel the need to attack potential consumers.
For anyone reading this, if you want a free script because you don't feel you should pay for it or you don't have the funds to pay for it, ask for it. If it's a big script, you probably won't get it. But many of us know how it is starting a website out and not knowing any coding, and there are some features you just need. I know many of us aren't coding PHP 24/7 for $$$ and would be glad to give you a simple script that we have lying around on our CPUs or servers like a contact form that really requires no configuration etc etc etc

I wasn't trying to start a war here. Everyone is entitled to however they want to do things. I say if you want something easy, of course it is alrite to ask for it FOR FREE. I do give scripts out to the public, I am the creator of a php bulletin board similar to vB and wBB... for free
Trust me, I was a noob 3 years ago, uploading every script I could get my hands on, learning everything possible.
Edit: 100th post hurdle =)

My 2 Cents
Hi,
I have generated quite a lot of paid work through this forum (thanks, hotscripts) and have also done a little free/ low-rate work for charity or personal websites.
I don't mind people asking for work to be done for free as long as it is not for something that has the sole purpose of making them money when it is complete. I get annoyed when somebody posts something like "I want an ebay clone by next Tuesday. Sorry but I can't pay any money but it will be a good portfolio piece".
Maybe it would be worthwhile having two boards; one for paid work and one for unpaid work. This would allow clients to target the type of developer they need directly and allow developers to view only the projects they would be interested in and save everyone a lot of time.
Thanks,
Daniel Dutton
