[For Hire] Efficient PHP, MySQL, XHTML, CSS Coder

Hello,
I'm Mike and I'm pretty good with PHP and MySQL. I have a lot of experience with XHTML and CSS, as well as with PHP and MySQL. I charge per job at pretty low prices and some of my work is as follows:

My Homepage
http://subzer0.net/

* Warning: It only really works good in FireFox; if you use IE it will redirect you to a different design, in Opera, the navlinks don't work and the opacity doesn't either. :-(

My Hand-Coded Message Boards
http://subzer0.net/boards/

I've coded many things for many sites and my price is low!

Nice work! Building your own forum from scratch is hard to do.

However,

I don't know if I would classify this as a "Efficient Coder's" work. Especially FireFox as your target, although the better browser, doesn't has the market share that IE does.

But good work, I rarely see anyone complete a forum that they set out to make on their own. I'm guilty of this myself. So have you marketed you webboard yet? Has other sites used it? What sites?

:-/

The little homepage error was laziness on my part. You see, I made a bet with my friend that I could make a homepage that was just like a computer desktop, you know, with the start button styled links and everything. I did it, but did not know that there would be IE/Opera errors. :-(

Oh and, I have not even released the source! I don't think anybody would want it anyway, because I dislike it. :-P

I am currently in the process of coding a "sequel" to those forums, however, my host does not support PHP5 so I'm going to use PHP4 style Object Oriented PHP.

I will help you code your message boards if you are motivated enough to start up the project again. I'm not going to charge you since I offered to, because I love coding and I'm pretty good at Message Board coding. :-)

Well since we are on the topic of message boards I will kinda layout a little of what I was trying to accomplish.

First thing was I wanted my board to start out as a purely xml board. This allows for a lot more variety of features including RSS which would instantly make this for a strong marketing tool over phpBB, IPB, and Vbulletin.

However there would should be a optional mysql database or sql database function perhaps not in the intial release.

Another aspect was a template system that made sense. This crude that phpBB uses with like fifty million view files and you having to slice and make all this crude... I just feel that could be better.

I also wanted to eliminate the use of querystrings and go to a complete serverside cache system. This will help out alot with spidering of forums as well as load time.

Lastly expansion support, I think it should have plug-in ability much like wordpress does. Not so much hacking or moding in the others. Perhaps even using a meta-language for plugin files.

So as you can tell I bite off alot of work, certainly not a simple forum. I got pretty much done with the xml threading, posting and then got caught up in actually work that paid money and stopped.

If you still feel like this something you can handle or want to I have no problem setting up stuff and planning it out to get it done. I could use the help, this certainly wouldn't be something that we would probably crank out in a month, well not a decent public release. I'm also very open to suggestions too.

and infintylimit, I like your ideas about that forum software ... i see that all these features could be done ...

Coding a forums needs a long time .. maybe more than year ( if you want to make a competitor software ).

Anyway .. i wish you good luck and you may have free time to complete it in the future..

*salutes*

Thank you alll, and I will notify you when I finish my next version of forums. I'll be sure to make you all VIPs.

And infinitylimit, I love your ideas. Especially the removal of querystrings. However, that's going to be pretty **** hard, but go for it!
