Sr. Technical IBM Pseries Specialist

Job Description:
Our Client is a full service solutions provider who is focused on High Availability, ERP, Infrastructure Management and Professional Services Solutions. They have quickly become a well-established and respected Premier IBM Business Partner in the Canadian marketplace and offer a high rate of customer satisfaction through their exceptional service and highly trained and qualified staff.
They currently require a "Sr. Technical IBM Pseries Specialist" who has:
- In-depth hands on experience and/or knowledge of IBM Pseries systems.
- 5-7+ years hands on experience with installation and supporting UNIX, OS400 and Microsoft operating systems.
- 5-7+ years hands on experience with local and wide area networks including wireless communications.
- Demonstrated experience in TCP/IP routing, client addressing, WINS, DNS and DHCP configuration.
- Working knowledge of NT Server, Windows 2000, XP, Office, Microsoft ISA, SQL database's, TIVOLI, Indicium, Neoscale & installation of various ERP software's.
- IBM, Microsoft, UNIX, network administration, hardware and storage system configuration, are a definite asset.
- University or College degree/diploma in computer science, OR equivalent experience.
- Certification in IBM p server products a definite asset.
- Ability to adjust hours of work to accommodate customer support needs and travel locally
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to interact with individuals throughout the organization at all levels.
- Able to provide on call support after hours on a rotational basis if required.
They will also be responsible for:
- Interact with the all teams and client members (technical and non-technical) to support systems and installations.
- Monitors internal and client networks, backups and recommends enhancements, as required.
- Provides interactive performance monitoring of systems, local and wide area networks.
- Proactively monitors and supports security products and procedures are implemented and enforced.
- Provide support to clients for hardware and software applications connecting to servers.
- Ensures that client issues are addressed in a timely fashion through problem logging, problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and appropriate follow through.
- Creates and maintains documentation for hardware and software configurations to allow for consistency, effective troubleshooting and cross-training.
