Can this be done? Which language?

I have a project which is probably quite large scale but I'm not entirely sure it's possible or what programming language it would be in, whether it would be a web app or an .exe.

Here's what I need, withut going into details as to what exactly the project is. I need an applicaton which can use a computer mouse and keboard essentially for me, and click certain buttos and type certain numbers into certain input boxes on a page, depending on messages which appear on that page, and a certain formula I would write.

I think people would refer to it as a bot as it is essentially doing something a human person would (I do) do, but it means that it can be done 24 hours a day by a computer as opposed to for a little while by me before getting bored.

I'd like to have some thoughts on this, what language it might be in. If you want to talk on AIM - 'mattdempseycom' or msn 'matt@mattdempsey.com'. Don't email me. I suppose replies to this would be almost as good to just get some feelings on whether it can be done and how. Thanks for your time.

Matt

There are automated GUI-Test Tools which do more or less what I think you want to do. The tricky bit, of course, is the "depending on messages which appear on that page"

Maybe this is interesting:

Thena again, if you are talking about webpages, you might consider
perl and WWW::Mechanize.

Cheers!
