Hi, I want to make it easier for users to upload their video to my site, I also want to have all videos uploaded converted into flv so they will play in my FLV player.
First of all here's what I need.
1. First screen shows Browse, so the user can pick their video.
2. Once they press Ok for their selected video, it shows upload progress to our server. (Can either have, first FLV progress bar, then shows it uploading, or can just all be combined showing one progress bar for the whole process).
3. Once it's uploaded, the user will see it playing in a small video object on this screen, just simple Play/Pause, Stop and Seek controls. The users mouse will have a white box following it, where they can click on the screen and save that area as a thumbnail which will be shown in a movieclip beside the video object showing the video. Once they have clicked to select their thumbnail, it pauses the video and loads the image in the movieclip beside it, which will say "Preview" above it. They can then go ahead and upload that thumbnail or pick another one and overwrite the current thumbnail.
That's about it. Needs to be able to convert any video to FLV. Mainly including (wmv, mov, avi, mpeg).
I know Flash and PHP, but what I don't know is how to convert videos. So this is why I'm asking for help. If someone has something similar to this already, if they could send me their source file that would be awesome, but I don't know if this can only be done with just Flash, or if you have to combine it with C++ or other system level language. If this has to be done for me as a contract job...please tell me your quotes for this job.
