Question Seeking PHP developer that's up to this...

Hi everyone,

I'm a PHP/MySQL developer from South America, and I am working on a project that (hopefully) will bring some monthly incomes. I am , however, unable to spend all the time I'd like to developing it, so I would like to know if anyone would be interested in partnering with me for this.

The basic idea (Which is simple enough) is to make some kind of information system for schools. Schools here are not so evolved technologically (They have Internet connection, but thath's mostly it), so the idea is to have a system in which:

-Each teacher has a control panel through which he can post homeworks, messages, or message other teachers of the same department
-Each student can log in to see assigned homework , notes, and can message other students
-Department directors (Not sure if I translated that one correctly) can post messages for the teachers of the department they run, and can message them
-Schools principal can post messages for everyone to see, and can message anyone
-Parents can log in to see any notes the teachers have posted about their kids, as well as asignments, etc.
-School's cafeteria can place the "weekly menus"
-Possibility of doing a mass mailing in HTML to everyone in the school's database (Teachers, students, parents, etc.)

Now:
It is not requiered (Nor do I intend to) manage things like grades, etc., since here there is not one grading system but many.

The general Idea:
If you have read until now, maybe you want to know what's the general idea. The general idea is to host this, and to offer the service to different schools for a monthly price (Not much, as schools here would not have a huge pocket to finance this stuff from), but the more schools we get, the more monthly income it would give.

Any1 interested please mail me to rozo@saryon.com

While there may be schools who need this kind of thing, I don't think the market is big enough to invest that kind of time.

I agree with this. there are enough webbased education tools already I think, so unless you have guaranteed funding I think investing time in this might not be the best idea.

we had many forum script out there , but still we see more scripts coming into scene , like YaBBSE it came after vB , phpBB and invisionboard but it's getting reputation ....
if we make a high quality system , it will take its place ..

This is not entirely true. You are forgetting I'm not located in the US, and here the market works very differently. The idea is to charge a samll amount of money in a monthly basis. And there are enough private schools here needing this that would be potencial clients.

Also, there are already education platforms, but none oriented towards this kind of thing. This would not be a BB system, nor an e-learning platform for online courses. It's just a set of tools to work somewhat as an Intranet.

I cannot guarantee funding, that's why I ask anyone who's up for it, who is willing to work some scripting (I am a developer myself, we would share the work) just to see if it happens.

I might be interested in taking part in this.

Just how well planned out will it be though. If is some order to the project then I would more than likely be willing to help, but if it's a big project, like it sounds like, and it's all by the seat of it's pants, than I'd rather not take on the frustration.

post here or pm me with more info...

Well, it is a big project, and organization will be an important part as without it we would get nothing done.

I have been lately talking to other people who have shown interest in this project, but I have to be straight forward that it's not intentded to be for more than 2 people (Including me) as if not it would not be worthwhile.

That, basicly means I'm interested in someone who is really going for this, and that is aware that maybe we could have a good software but no customers....
