Summary
I am looking for a PHP developer to work primarily on a web (PHP/MySQL) version of a mature application that was originally developed in FoxPro (DOS). This application was developed in-house over the last 10 years and the workflow and logic has been thoroughly tested. The FoxPro version is still in production while PHP/MySQL version is in development.

Position
The tasks would include:

* Working closely the project leader to produce a high quality solution
* Use PHP, MySQL, CSS and HTML to work on the product
* Testing the application for bugs and fixing of new and existing bugs

Ideal Requirements
The following skills are considered ideal for this position:

* Experience with PHP5 and object orientated programming concepts
* Experience with MySQL as the preferred database
* Experience with AJAX would be an advantage
* XHTML/CSS experience would be an advantage
* Good communication skills in English


Location
Location is irrelevant since the developer would liaise with the team through e-mail and instant messaging.

Work Requirements
Our main objective is to ensure that the project moves forward quickly. Therefore, this is an ideal project for new developers looking to build their portfolio or full time programmers looking to work on a project in their spare time.

Payment
At this stage, this is a free, GPL, solution and there will be limited opportunities for payment. However, there will be opportunities for customisations outside of the core code development (templates, code, support, etc). Once the application has reached an acceptable level of maturity, we will be moving to a licensed model for the code and we will be able to negotiate structured payment at that time.
