Hi there,
I'm just doing some prospecting just now, trying to gather ideas and where appropriate some quotes too.
I currently run a proxy service for people, this comes with a monthly Paypal subscription. See
Stevieb.net and look under firewall bypass for more information.
When a user subscribes, I receive the Paypal notification e-mail with the desired username. I then have to:
Create a new folder based on the username
Copy the proxy files into it
Create the .htaccess and .htpasswd
E-mail the user back with the login details
Similarly, if a user cancels (or subscription fails 3 times) I have to do manual cancellations/suspensions.
It doesn't sound like much work, but at times I can't get access and it takes up to 48hrs for me to create the proxy setup. And in this time I have had several people assume it's instant, and when they don't get the new proxy setup instantly they cancel.
I'm looking for something to automate the process. Ideally this would have an admin panel for both the user (update contact info and cancel subscription) and for an administrator (to cancel, suspend and view a user list).
I currently have a good handful of people subscribing to this service, and I am gaining further interest. Because of this I feel the project is deserving of a dedicated domain and a proper service as opposed to a manual setup.
I'm keen to use Wordpress as my core given it's what I know, however I'll take on board any suggestions.
Is this something that you think is suited to work in tandem with Wordpress? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
