Scarsdale Technologies is a web design/web hosting company that also has a news publishing division that operates a few local community news websites.
We're currently rebuilding a news website to become a local news portal with Mambo OS v4.5 (see mamboserver.com) as the core engine.
We are soliciting bids from programmers who can successfully modify the following scripts to work with Mambo. We do not want to modify Mambo tables or program files but wish to modify the add-on applications to work with Mambo.
Script #1: phpClassifieds
We have chosen phpClassifieds (see deltascripts.com) as our leading candidate to be the classifieds script for the site. We are currently accepting bids from programmers who can successfully modify phpClassifieds to use the Mambo user table for login/password and user profile data. Currently phpClassifieds uses email address as its User ID, unlike Mambo which uses Username.
It looks like it can be done by doing the following:
- forcing all users to register via Mambo by recoding all the Register/Login links.
- forcing PHP Classifieds to use the Mambo user table. Note: phpClassifieds uses email address as its User ID, unlike Mambo which uses Username.
- recoding all links to the PHP Classifieds User Profile/Password pages in the Member area to go to Mambo.
- phpclassifieds cookies, if any, would need to use Mambo cookies.
Unfortunately, the PHP Classifieds user table has a lot more fields than Mambo and some substantial thought to address how that can be handled will be necessary.
phpClassifieds is issuing a version upgrade from v6.08 to 6.13 within the next week. It is in RC1 right now.
Script #2: wsnlinks
In order to provide paid sponsored links in a links directory to local businesses, we have opted to not use the links module that comes with Mambo, but instead use WSNLinks v3 (see wsnlinks.com).
WSNLinks comes with an ability to use the Mambo user table. What does not work are the cookies. WSNLinks stores username/password information in separate cookies while Mambo store such info in one cookie. We'd like users, if logged in from within Mambo, to be recognized as logged in by WSNLinks.
