hello

i learnt xhtml, javascript, css all through tutorials on the net but i never bothered to teach my self how to make a decent site layout (all ive done is go to template sites and download them from there).

so i believe its time i eventually learnt can anyone recomend a tutorial or something.

I'd say make a design (or pick one) in psd form or whatever, and just start making it with your current knowledge. if you dont understand how to do something, start looking at sites where it's done and check how they've done it.

If you can use PS you can learn it by yourself.
It wouldn't be that hard .

Looking at the work of others is indeed a good way to learn the tricks of the trade. Check out css Zen Garden for some amazing (some better than others, of course) pure-CSS layouts.

With all due respect.... i think you have learned all you need to make a decent website....
i dont think that "picking up" someone else design and using it is a good way to learn...
learning takes time... take this time.. practice... make layouts four your self...
don't use other's....
if any day a client comes and say's "this layout is a copy".. what are you gonna say to him?

oh making a website is sorta like a hobby not a proffesion and i get what you mean about some one comming up to me and saying that this layout is a copy thats why im looking for some recomendations on where i can find a tutorial or something.
