Ok, I would like to start programming, but I was wondering what would be a good language to start on? Any suggestions?

Programming for what purpose? If it is to create dynamic web pages, I recommend PHP as well as a starting place.

Yes, I am learning PHP on the side reading books on it every now and then I need something done, but more along the lines of applications.

I always recommend learning C first. It is easier to migrate to any other programming language from C.
