How can a hosting control package don't have support for Apache on windows ?!?! It's insane.... I for one use apache on windows. I wouldn't use IIS if they paid me !

There are some really good CMS's out there that are free. My favorite being http://www.e107.org. I operate 7 websites and 5 of them use e107. I would never pay for a CMS even if it did offer everything I was looking for. I would just customize it to my needs for free.

I don't have any suggestions of what kind of script to create and sell, but I think the best way to market it is to create two versions, a lite and a full. This will get people to use your script for free but if they want more features, they have to pay. I have looked back at the scripts I have purchased, and they all started by me using the free version first.

Just a suggestion!

Ok, I just thought of a script that I would buy and I know that others would too. How about a "PHP based Football Pool script"? The only thing close is a PERL Fantasy Football script. I saw someone requesting this and decided I want it too!!

"Members can buy squares via paypal and their username is automatically added during the passback confirmation. admin should be able to break down the pool of money to Quarters, Halfs and Whole game in percentages. I.E. you charge 10 bucks a square you collect $1000 First quarter winner gets 10%, Second quarter, 10%, Half gets 10%, 3rd Quarter 10%, Fourth 10%, Game Winner gets 30% and admin can choose to keep 20% or break down the percentages like they want. Winners are automatically notified when admin updates the score for each quarter."

What do you think?

phillyhotshots: e107 is OK, but it lacks decent theme support... and forums.

Theme support is offered in the forums at e107 and also at:
http://www.retrostate.com/forum_viewforum.php?30

It has become confusing since they started hosting themes at www.retrostate.com.

I was just thinking of something that has not been done yet. Anything that is in huge demand, you can get for free.

The only other idea that I have is to create an application which integrates both flash and php. Maybe a CMS or blog? One of the few scripts I have purchased was www.triviashock.net which uses both very well.

Listen to me dude... if you know visual basic, start coding a hosting cpanel for windows. There are any good out there and if you manage to make a really good one, you'll make huge profits ! There's a huge hunger for this kind of app from windows admins. Ensim, helm and plesk are really crappy solutions...very limited. If you have the expertise, give it a try. Of course that's my $.02...if it's worth that much
