X7 Hosting: Stay Away!!

CI Host recently migrated all of their shared accounts to "X7 Hosting". I helped a friend recover from the total abortion they made of his site during the migration.

The techs are friendly but utterly clueless. For example, they run Linux boxes, but they've never heard of "cron" or "cron jobs" and were amazed that such a thing existed.

"Wow, that sounds cool!" was one response I got, another was "...nope, never heard of 'c-ron', what does it do?" (he was reading off of a trouble ticket). And these are the "high level" Admins...

I asked them, well, how would you run a script at the same time each day...and they said they never had a reason to do that and "couldn't imagine" why anyone would want or need to!!

They screwed up all the databases, lost data, screwed up paths, lost directory permissions, etc etc etc. My advice to stay away from "X7 Hosting". Far far away.

Overall I've had good results with CI Host. They aren't perfect, but generally I've been satisfied with them over the the last 4 or 5 years.
