Hello all,
I am feeling incredibly overwhelmed & I'm hoping some of you programming gurus can help.
I want to start a swingers community with personals, reviews, articles, etc. The two things I am looking at are
"Mojo Personals 3" &
"Esvon Classifieds". What I am having poblems with are the system requirements.
For Mojo Personals 3 the requirements are:
- Perl 5 (or better) with CGI.pm module.
- Ability to run CGI and change file permissions.
- Current version of MySQL
- Free Perl Modules DBI and dbd::mysql loaded (usually pre-installed with MySQL, check with your host or server admin)
- optional: Some time-scheduling job such as cron tabs (cron jobs) to expire ads, members profile, etc.
Do I have to download these onto my computer to get "Mojo Personals 3" to work? Or, do I just make sure that I choose a host that supports Perl 5, MySQL, etc.?
The requirements for "Esvon Classifieds" are:
PHP 4.1 - Your web server must have PHP 4.1 or better. Your network administrator can download the latest version of PHP from
http://www.php.net. PHP is extremely common though, and installed on virtually every webserver on Earth.
MySQL 3.23.x - MySQL (
http://www.mysql.org) is an open-source robust SQL database engine. Most of web hostings support MySQL. You can contact your ISP / web hosting in order to make sure that they have support for MySQL databases.

I know that I'm in way over my head with this stuff but I can't afford to outsource the work. I'm willing to take classes, read books, etc. in order to get a good grasp on the things I need in order to make my site successful. I've taken some design classes (I'll be taking more this fall) & that is my strong point, not this. Any advice, comments, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Help!
