Trouble getting MyphpAdmin to work

I have Dreamweaver and I want to get started developing a PHP application for my site so I wanted to load a server on my computer. I found some instructions on the net for downloading Apache, PHP, MySQL and MYphpAdmin but I can't get further than MySQL. When I try to install MyphpAdmin it says it can't find the server. Perhaps this is not the right forum to ask this question, but I assumed many of you would have faced this configuration issue in order to do your work. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you
