Hello Everybody

Hi from New Zealand,

I hope you're having a great week so far.

I'm an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to code and would like to learn more but am technically inept.

I hope you will be patient with my fumblings.

I look forward to seeing you round the forums.

Which programming languages are you mainly interested in?

Everything web based really.

I've got passing experience in HTML (I know it's a mark-up language but it's what I know) but if I had the time I'd like to pick up the basics behind PHP, Java and CSS. I 'built' a bit of PHP yesterday (well copied someone else's script and adapted it for my own purposes) but right now I don't know if it will work or what to do with it.

That's how we all stared. ;p It's a good way of learning. Keep doing things like this and try to understand how it works. Try to understand the syntax, and look up functions you don't understand on php.net

PHP is a fairly easy language, you'll pick it up quickly if you hang in there. Also, feel free to ask in the forums if you get stuck.

This site will be your main guide. After more than 6 years of programming, I still use it almost on a daily basis. Check also the user comments. They often provide further examples and tips.
