Language suggestions

Hey people,
I'm a pretty experienced programmer and I'm starting work on a new application but I need a language to do it in.

So can you suggest a language that matches my criteria? :

- Must have C-like syntax (not necessarily exactly the same, basically I just want {curly brackets}, can't stand basic-like languages)

- Easy to make an interface in

My main languages I'm experienced in are PHP, Flash and to an extent C++.
I started making my app in flash but it turns out flash is REALLY hard to make a good user interface for an application with.

So... suggestions?

Have you considered .Net? C# would give you the curly brackets, and the .net dev environment has lots of very rich controls, easy for making a nice UI. I learned C# on the job from the beginning of this year, so it is quite straightforward to master. You can download the express version of C# from the Microsoft website, and its free. There also lots of support forums for when you get stuck...

java with netbeans

The latest netbeans IDE makes it relatively easy to create user interfaces
and very easy to write java code, which is similar to c# but also runs on
non-Microsoft systems.
