Question Open files on another server

Hi all,
I am very new on perl, and I badly need some help. Could someone plz tell me how to open a file on another server(not a web server) using perl?
I could only find "open" method. Is it possible to pass login credentials using this method?
or is there any other method?

Thanks in advance..
